Making Sambar powder

  1. 3/4 cup coriander seeds
  2. 1/4 cup Cumin seeds
  3. 1/2 cup urad dal
  4. 2 tbsp fenugreek seeds
  5. 2 tbsp black peppercorns
  6. Handful dried red chilly
  7. 2tbsp asafoetida
  8. 2tbsp kashmiri chilly powder
  9. 1tbsp turmeric


  1. Dry fry items 1 to 6 one by one in a pan with no oil to a pt where they start emitting aroma but careful not to burn them.
  2. Put this together with rest of the items into the grinder and powder them
  3. Put it air tight container.
