Coorg chicken curry

Grind together the following:

  1. 1″ ginger
  2. 3-4 garlic pods
  3. 2″ cinnamon
  4. 2 Green chillies
  5. 1/2 tsp poppy seeds
  6. 1 cup roasted coconut grating
  7. 1 tsp corriander seeds
  8. 3/4 tsp Cumin seeds

Grind the above into a smooth paste.

  1. 1 Large onion-chopped
  2. 1 tomato -chopped
  3. 1 tsp tamarind paste
  4. 1/4 tsp jaggery
  5. salt to taste
  6. oil for frying
  7. 8-10 pieces of chicken
  8. 1 tsp Red chilly powder
  9. 1/2 tsp turmeric

Method:

  1. Wash cut chicken and marinate with turmeric,salt and red chilly powder.
  2. In a pan .heat oil and fry chopped onion till it turns tanslucent.
  3. To this add ground paste and fry 3-4 mts
  4. Add chicken and mix well,cook for 5-6mts.
  5. Add tomato,tamarind paste,salt and jaggery ,with 1/2 cup water.Mix well
  6. Cook till chicken is well cooked.
  7. Serve hot with rice
