I am not an authority on Rasam powders, but I can tell you one thing,I AM NOT SATISFIED with the Rasam powder I get at the “Indian” stores I get, which was why I stopped making rasam all together when I ran out of the Rasam powder my mom gave me,until today.
I wanted to make something quick and Tomato Rasam seemed like the quickest one, only problem was I did not have the essential item…the powder.A quick search on the net gave me the individual items and its quantity required but laborious process ,with each and every item needing frying ,grinding etc.I DID NOT HAVE TIME OR PATIENCE …my tummy was growling and I wanted something quick.Result I found a way to make Instant Rasam powder.
Ingredients:

- 1/4 tsp hing
- 1/4 tsp Mustard.
- 1/4 tsp oil
- In some hot oil, splutter mustard and powder it by pressing with a spoon.
